Bible Study; God's sons.

Matthew 17:24After Jesus and his disciples arrived in Capernaum, the collectors of the two-drachma tax came to Peter and asked, "Doesn't your teacher pay the temple tax?"

25"Yes, he does," he replied.
When Peter came into the house, Jesus was the first to speak. "What do you think, Simon?" he asked. "From whom do the kings of the earth collect duty and taxes—from their own sons or from others?"

26"From others," Peter answered.

"Then the sons are exempt," Jesus said to him. 27"But so that we may not offend them, go to the lake and throw out your line. Take the first fish you catch; open its mouth and you will find a four-drachma coin. Take it and give it to them for my tax and yours."

The word "king" Jesus used here means authority or leader. The leader does not collect tax from his own family, but from others. The family is exempt, meaning they are granted relief. They don't have to worry. But Jesus and his disciples did not want to offend them, and so God the Father provided for His son Jesus. Because Jesus is so good, He also paid for His family, the family who He spent years eating together with and just being with them.

What the meaning here is God wouldn't collect tax from His sons, but this does not mean we can stop offering and tithes. In fact, I believe God will collect it from those who aren't His son. I'm glad that I'm a son of God because I am allowed to call God my Father who lives in Heaven.

Dear God,

Hallelujah. I know that I'm your son! God you show that you have control in this situation and you lovingly provide for your son. May I just continue to praise you and love you Father God.

In Jesus Name Amen.
