Tough Love

Numbers 12:
10 As the cloud moved from above the Tabernacle, there stood Miriam, her skin as white as snow from leprosy.[c] When Aaron saw what had happened to her, 11 he cried out to Moses, “Oh, my master! Please don’t punish us for this sin we have so foolishly committed. 12 Don’t let her be like a stillborn baby, already decayed at birth.”

13 So Moses cried out to the Lord, “O God, I beg you, please heal her!”

14 But the Lord said to Moses, “If her father had done nothing more than spit in her face, wouldn’t she be defiled for seven days? So keep her outside the camp for seven days, and after that she may be accepted back.”

Miriam and Aaron criticized behind Moses' back that he had married a Cushite woman. God heard their complaints and summoned all three of them to His tabernacle. God trusted Moses and was angry because of their complaints. Miriam had gotten leprosy after the Lord departed from them (12:10). Moses cried out to God, asking the Lord to heal Miriam (12:13). And what I think God had done was just spit on her face to teach her a lesson (12:14).

Sometimes I sin against God and then things do happen to me. I would even get worried because it could be symptoms of something horrible. But now I know that God was just spitting in my face so that I would not sin again in the same way.

Dear God,
Thank you Lord for revealing this scripture to me. Yes, sometimes I need to be punished because if I don't learn from my mistakes then what good am I doing? Your my Father God and your heart for me is for me to change from my wicked ways. God continue to punish me if my heart has turned cold away from you. Don't ever let me go. I know that what you are doing is like what a loving father would do. Discipline me with your tough love God. Thank you Lord.
In Jesus Name Amen.
