Mark 9:23" 'If you can'?" said Jesus. "Everything is possible for him who believes." 24 Immediately the boy's father exclaimed, "I do believe; help me overcome my unbelief!"
Jesus said that everything is possible for him who believes. In the situation the boy's father was in, I am pretty sure he was scared. He only wanted the best for his son, and so he said "I do believe!" But a second later, he realizes that he needs to overcome his unbelief.
When I pray to Jesus and ask if He can do this for me, I need to recognize what I say. Sometimes I need to ask Jesus to help me overcome my unbelief first before Jesus answers my prayers.
Dear God,
How can I pray to you if I cannot recognize my faith? Lord Jesus, help me overcome my unbelief! Sometimes I pray to you thinking that I believe, but when it does not happen right away, I start doubting that you want to answer my prayers! But thank you God, that everything is possible for me if I believe. Help me to start believing in you. Sometimes it takes awhile, but I let me know that you are working on it!
In Jesus Name Amen.
