Proverbs 2:1-5 "My child, listen to what I say, and treasure my commands. Tune your ears to wisdom, and concentrate on understanding. Cry out for insight, and ask for understanding. Search for them as you would for silver; seek them like hidden treasures. Then you will understand what it means to fear the LORD, and you will gain knowledge of God."
In my life, I don't cry out for insight and ask for understanding. I don't look for wisdom as I would for hidden treasures and because of that I don't understand what it means to fear God and nor do I have the knowledge of God.
The scripture continues in verse 6-8 that God grants wisdom and common sense to the honest. It's written "From His mouth come knowledge and understanding." Also He guards those who are just and protects those who are faithful to Him. It's God who I need to seek. I need to follow good men and stay to the paths of the righteous (people). God wants me to listen to Him and treasure His commands. Wisdom shouts out in the street and she has a heart to make me wise. In Proverbs 1:23 it says "Come and listen to my counsel. I'll share my heart with you and make you wise."
Dear God,
I ask you for forgiveness because, I am a simpleton and I'm simpleminded. Wisdom has been shouting and crying for me to listen and become wiser. Please, do not laugh at me when I'm in trouble. I will listen to your advice and be corrected by you. I will follow the ways of the righteous and I surrender my pride and what I know. I don't want to be destroyed by my complacency or eat the bitter fruit of living my own way. There's so many benefits from your wisdom, God. You want to share your heart with me, so I will come and listen to you. From your mouth comes wisdom and understanding. Help me to tune my ears to wisdom and concentrate on understanding. Help me to cry out for insight and ask for understanding. Give me a heart to seek wisdom like a hidden treasure. Then I will understand what it means to fear you! LORD help me to discipline myself because I am a lenient type of person. I like to take the easy way out and I will be trash when tested by the fire. Refine me God, and I will turn out to be the man you created me to be.
