2 Samuel 24:24 But the king replied to Araunah, "No, I insist on paying you for it. I will not sacrifice to the LORD my God burnt offerings that cost me nothing."
King David had to build an altar for the LORD. The LORD wanted King David to build an altar at the threshing floor of Araunah the Jebusite. So though King David could have the threshing floor for free, King David bought it with 50 shekels.
King David did not want to sacrifice to the LORD when it cost him nothing. King David was titled as the man after God's own heart. I want to be after God's own heart. I need to know that when I sacrifice, or do anything for the LORD then it must cost me something.
Dear God,
Lord when King David did something for you, he would make sure it costed him something. When he went to battle, he made sure you would be glorified at the cost of his sweat and blood. I pray that when I do something for you, that it will cost me something so you will be glorified. It will also help me have a servant's heart, and not a slave's heart.
In Jesus Name Amen.
