Purify Yourself

Genesis 35: 3 We are now going to Bethel, where I will build an altar to the God who answered my prayers when I was in distress. He has been with me wherever I have gone.”

Jacob told everyone is his household to purify themselves by throwing away all of their pagan idols and putting on clean clothing.

The first time I encountered God, I met Him as I was. But now, knowing I will encounter God again I must purify myself and put on clean clothing. This is significant because it is usually God who I pray to purify me.

Dear God,
Let me purify myself before I come to meet you again! It is just like meeting the King. In Egypt, whoever met the Pharaoh had to clean themselves by shaving and doing all kinds of stuff. Now that when I come to the altar to meet you, it is like coming to your throne and standing before you. God teach me ways that I can purify myself before you and may you be pleased by it.
In Jesus Name Amen.
